DECOMPOSITION GAS

[VDI 2263, Part 1]

Determination of the volume of decomposition gas under isoperibolic conditions:

1 g of the test substance is filled into a glass tube.

The tube it connected to a gas meter and then lowered into a heated aluminum block.

The test is carried out in two modes: at 220 °C for 8 h and at 350 °C for 5 minutes.

Flammability of the decomposition gas:

1 g of the test substance is filled into a glass tube.

The glass is lowered into an aluminum block heated to 350 °C.

The flammability of the released gases is determined by a glowing platinum wire (approx. 1000 °C) at the top of the glass tube (lowered into the tube not more than 5 mm).

It is observed, whether the gas is ignited within 5 minutes.
