The DVD “Safe handling of combustible dusts” has been produced in 1983 to show the current state of scientific and engineering knowledge in the area of explosion protection.

Although filmed in 1983, the basic lessons to be learnt are just as applicable today.

The DVD shows experiments under conditions similar to practical operating condition, which could only be undertaken by a few large corporations and research institutions authorized for this purpose, in Germany and Switzerland, who kindly made their experience and their facilities available for this video.

This has made it possible to give access to this complex subject matter to the specialists concerned, and to those engineers, scientists, designers, insurers and administrators who are interested in the topic.

The film illustrates the problems involved not only by laboratory experiments but also by impressive open-air experiments.

The video also shows how design of the plant can help to prevent dust explosions, with practical industrial examples.
